- Paulette Burks, Sustainability Specialist, Alliance Data: “There are so many valuable sessions it was hard to make a selection! I look forward to networking with my peers and taking home as many best practices as possible.”
- Geoffrey Castro, Program Manager, Corporate Community Relations, CenterPoint Energy: "I'm excited to spend the next few days learning from peers and industry leaders on how many of the world's largest companies are advancing corporate citizenship and making a positive impact with employees and society."
- Kenzie Ferguson, Vice President, Foundation & Corporate Social Responsibility, Delta Dental: "We are able to show how building inclusion in business helps the bottom line—it's about time! The fantastic line-up of speakers at the #BCConf21 are driving it home."
- Jamie Grasso, Director, Corporate Citizenship, Paylocity: "Corporations have always had an obligation to addressing community needs and social justice events, but this year the conversation is more direct and rawer than ever before. 2020 was an inflection point that has now placed the work and the outcomes directly on the front lines."

Member Companies in the News
Recognitions are in order for two of our member companies who released corporate citizenship reports this week:
- Aflac Incorporated announced that the company has released its 2020 Business and Sustainability Report, titled "65 Years of the Aflac Way: Making a Difference While Balancing Purpose and Profit." The comprehensive, multimedia report consolidates information traditionally found in the company's Environmental Social Governance (ESG), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Year-in-Review reports.
- Freeport-McMoRan Inc. announced the publication of its 2020 Annual Report on Sustainability detailing its environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance during the year. This report marks FCX’s 20th year of reporting on its sustainability progress and FCX’s first year reporting in alignment with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Metals & Mining framework.
Four of our member companies announced new ambitious environmental targets and plans:
- Apple announced a first-of-its-kind carbon removal initiative—the Restore Fund—that will make investments in forestry projects to remove carbon from the atmosphere while generating a financial return for investors. Launched with Conservation International and Goldman Sachs, the $200 million fund aims to remove at least 1 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually from the atmosphere.
- Subaru of America, Inc., in partnership with the Philadelphia Union, announced that the automaker will bring its established zero landfill knowledge to Subaru Park, home of the Union, making it the first zero landfill stadium in MLS. Subaru Park aims to become the first MLS Zero Landfill stadium where no trash is sent to a landfill.
- Verizon announced new goals to advance its sustainability initiatives and a new social impact innovation program called Forward for Good Accelerator. The company also committed to two new ambitious science-based emissions reduction targets in operational and value chain emissions.
- Yum! Brands announced it will decrease its greenhouse gas emissions by 46% by 2030 in partnership with its franchisees, suppliers, and producers as part of its broader strategy to address climate change. Additionally, Yum! pledged to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
