Our Approach

At the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship, we help companies advance and elevate their corporate citizenship to deliver both business and social value, no matter where they are in their corporate citizenship journey. As the leading corporate citizenship membership community, we use our research-based knowledge, best-in-class learning opportunities, and dynamic peer network to help ALL companies know more about the global landscape of corporate citizenship; do more to optimize performance and value through the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) dimensions of firm performance—and thus achieve more as effective corporate citizens. As our members succeed, they bring their learnings back to the Center, creating a virtuous cycle of sustainable learning.

We are a learning community; we do not rate, rank, or endorse companies. We meet them where they are, help them to assess their impacts, challenges, and opportunities, and show them how to leverage their unique assets to address social and environmental issues—while achieving sustainable business goals.

We believe that the challenges facing the world today require active investment from both public and private sectors, and that all companies have the potential to evolve, grow, and help create the world in which we want to do business, and the world in which we want to live.

Who can join?

Any company operating a legal incorporated business that has dedicated corporate citizenship program.

Does membership confer a “seal of approval”?

We do not rate, rank, or endorse companies. Our purpose is to help companies improve their corporate citizenship from whatever the starting point. We often feature stories about companies that have developed particularly innovative or effective corporate citizenship programs. We shine light on these to accelerate the learning of the full community. A feature about a program should not be construed as an endorsement of the company.
