Spotlight on You
Alex Schurman, head of CSR, Alexion Pharmaceuticals and President, Alexion Charitable Foundation, celebrated her company's first-time Prime Status rating for best-in-class performance in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) sustainable practices by the Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS). "We are dedicated to frequent assessments of these global efforts so that we deliver the most value to patients, employees, our communities, and all our stakeholders," said Schurman.
Beth Spurgeon, division manager, corporate responsibility, Americas at ArcelorMittal, shared proudly the Sustain Our Great Lakes partnership, of which her company is a founding partner and funder. The project recently funded two Cleveland-based green infrastructure projects that will use nature to reduce and treat millions of gallons of stormwater before it discharges to Lake Erie and its waterways. "I'm very proud to be part of the amazing Sustain Our Great Lakes partnership and be quoted in this article focused on our positive Cleveland impact!" said Spurgeon.
Tufts Health Plan’s senior leaders, including President and CEO Tom Croswell, presented a challenge for employees in an annual fundraiser this year: If Tufts Health Plan Foundation could raise $65,000 for the Alzheimer's Association, they would color their hair purple. In a few short weeks, the Foundation reached more than $70,000 during its virtual #Walk2EndAlz, leading many senior leaders to follow through on their promise. “Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, and it is the only one that has no cure or strategies for prevention,” said Croswell. “I have personally experienced the challenges that families who struggle with Alzheimer’s face, and I am proud Tufts Health Plan continues its commitment to supporting families living with Alzheimer’s and finding effective treatment strategies for this disease.”
