Spotlight on You
Mary Draves, vice president of Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) and chief sustainability officer at Dow, has announced her decision to retire in April 2022, following more than 32 years of service with Dow. Andre Argenton, vice president of Core Research and Development (R&D), has been named vice president, EH&S and chief sustainability officer, and will assume the role upon Draves' retirement. Argenton will be responsible for corporate EH&S governance and corporate sustainability, including the reporting and disclosure of Dow's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.
Helena Haynes-Carter has been named chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer at KeyBank. In this role, Haynes-Carter will lead the strategy and tactics to improve the acquisition, development, and retention of diverse talent and suppliers. She most recently served as Senior Director, Global Diversity Equity & Inclusion for UnitedHealth Group, where she orchestrated a $14 million COVID-19 response with community-based organizations throughout the U.S.

Bright Horizons Family Solutions is partnering with the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe of Snoqualmie, WA, to manage the daily operations of a new child development center. As a partner, Bright Horizons will be instrumental in integrating Native American culture in the center's programming and curriculum.
FedEx has published its FY21 Delivering for Good Report, which highlights how the company used its global network and logistics expertise to help people and communities in need, especially in times of disaster. In FY21, FedEx shipped $89.6 million worth of goods via 82,000 shipments to nonprofit programs doing good around the world.
Moody's has issued a new study, reporting that it expects full-year issuance of sustainable bonds to top $1.35 trillion in 2022, potentially reaching 15% of total global bond issuance. Green, sustainability, and sustainability-linked bonds will drive overall issuance volume as activity around transition and adaptation financing continues accelerating. The total will comprise approximately $775 billion of green bonds, $150 billion of social bonds, $225 billion of sustainability bonds and $200 billion of sustainability linked bonds.
Pinnacol Assurance was featured in the Denver Business Journal in How Colorado’s largest workers’ compensation insurance carrier put care to work during a pandemic. Driven by its desire to uplift the Colorado workforce, Pinnacol targeted its giving to support organizations that were leading the charge in driving the state’s economic recovery. With extensive experience with grantmaking and philanthropy, Pinnacol quickly stepped up to help communities in need. In 2020, Pinnacol donated nearly $2.5 million to funds that supported small businesses and communities in Colorado.
PwC Canada will release results from its inaugural Canadian ESG reporting insights study, exploring the state of ESG reporting among Canadian companies and analyzing the challenges organizations face with their sustainability disclosure practices. ESG Today reports that the study indicates many companies are lagging in the development of their ESG reporting and strategies, even as pressure to disclose on sustainability builds from stakeholders ranging from investors and regulators. The report will be posted on the PwC website once available.
Southern California Gas Co., a unit of Sempra Energy, released its SoCalGas Sustainability Strategy with hopes it takes tangible steps toward a carbon neutral future, investing $50 million over five years into communities the company serves and works to advance racial and gender diversity in the workplace. The company said the strategy focuses on accelerating the transition of clean energy, protecting the climate and improving local air quality, and increasing clean energy access and affordability, as well as advancing a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture.
Walgreens Boots Alliance published its 2021 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report to celebrate and acknowledge the company's efforts and impacts.
