Jennifer Leitsch, vice president, corporate responsibility at CBRE, welcomed two new managers to her corporate responsibility team. "Welcome to the team!"

Michael VanDerSnick, senior vice president of Americas manufacturing at LyondellBasell, spoke with BIC Magazine about a new glass distillation lab training lab at the LyondellBasell San Jacinto's Center for Petrochemical Energy and Technology (CPET). Building off of a $5 million donation to launch CPET in 2019, LyondellBasell has supported the center in developing a curriculum with current industry needs in mind.

Amica announced last month its expanded partnership with disaster-relief organization All Hands and Hearts by providing funding for a program focused on California wildfire relief. Amica has donated more than $300,000 to the organization over the last two years, allocating this most recent donation to Paradise, California, the town devastated by the 2018 Camp Fire. As part of National Wildfire Awareness Month, Amica also shared tips to prevent wildfire damage in and around homes.

The Baker Hughes Foundation has announced a $250,000 grant to the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in support of its efforts to end the pandemic through equitable COVID-19 vaccine distribution and other support for the world’s most vulnerable populations. The UNICEF grant is aligned with the Baker Hughes Foundation’s goal of promoting health, safety, and wellness in the communities where employees live and work.

Subaru of America announced that it will continue its longtime partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for the sixth consecutive year. As part of the partnership, the automaker, and a record 606 participating Subaru retailers nationwide will support more than 40,000 blood cancer patients by mailing blankets and handwritten letters from retailers and customers to patients’ homes throughout the month of June.

Wells Fargo is awarding $1 million in grants to four nonprofit organizations providing support for the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and small businesses in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent increase in anti-Asian hate, discrimination, and violence. These funds will supplement Wells Fargo’s ongoing support for the AAPI community focused on financial education, college scholarships, small business support, in-language services, and support of local and national Asian-focused non-profit institutions and organizations.

Yum! Brands and the University of Louisville announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind education and research center to unlock franchising opportunities for underrepresented populations in the field. The Yum! Center for Global Franchise Excellence will focus on recruiting and educating people of color and women on the possibilities of franchising as a pathway to entrepreneurship. The effort is part of a companywide commitment of $100 million over five years to promote equity and inclusion, education, and entrepreneurship.
