Julia Wilson, corporate projects, Nielsen Global Media, shared the launch of her company’s new Small Business Support content hub, which supports Black-owned small businesses have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. The website offers insights, free innovation consulting services, and community support. Amica is partnering with Feeding Children Everywhere, a charitable organization that provides healthy meals to those in need across the country, to raise money to help provide meals to families facing hunger. Through November 20, it will match every donation, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $25,000, as well as $1 for every share of its free Thanksgiving e-card.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is excited to announce both a new racial justice grant opportunity and a call for community input to help inform its approach/plan to address food insecurity. The 2020 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Racial Equality and Justice Grant continues the work and energy of its company-wide Service Week in September to build a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future by supporting not-for-profit organizations serving Massachusetts communities who are addressing racial justice.
Comerica Bank announced a $100,000 donation to longtime community partner Capuchin Soup Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that has served Detroit for more than 90 years with a mission to support and feed those most in need within the Detroit community. "We are proud to continue investing in Capuchin Soup Kitchen and its mission to serve individuals and families by meeting food security needs as well through social and emergency assistance," said Mike Ritchie, Comerica Bank Michigan market president. "For over 90 years, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen has served a higher purpose through its outreach, vital to community wellness and sustainability. The inspirational efforts of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen during the pandemic exemplify its selfless commitment to others, and we look forward to assisting them in their mission."
Novartis announced that it will be the first pharmaceutical company set to achieve 100% renewable electricity in its European operations through virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs). The news follows the signature of five VPPAs, which are expected to collectively add more than 275 megawatts of clean power to the electrical grid. “At Novartis, environmental sustainability is aligned with our purpose to reimagine medicine to improve and extend people’s lives,” said Montse Montaner, Chief Sustainability Officer at Novartis. “Energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions are the cornerstones of our strategy for reducing emissions. These agreements mark a major milestone on the Novartis environmental sustainability journey to be carbon neutral across its operations by 2025 and across its value chain by 2030."
