Adeeb Khan, vice president of corporate social responsibility and executive director of the Delta Dental of Colorado (DDCO) Foundation, was named by the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation as a finalist for the 2021 9NEWS Leader of the Year award. Khan has dedicated his career to bring voice and attention to the issues of equity. Outside of work, Khan was appointed by the Governor to the Colorado Early Childhood Leadership Commission and serves on the University of Denver Daniels College of Business Executive Advisory Board and the boards of College Track, the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation and B:CIVIC.
Anne Sawyer, EY's global supporting the next generation leader and a part of the EY Global Corporate Responsibility team, was featured in EY's corporate responsibility blog on five ways organizations can better support young people virtually. "Nurturing resilience and other vital 21st century mindsets and skills—such as initiative and self-direction, creativity and innovation, and communication and collaboration—is a key aim of EY Ripples and its focus on supporting the next generation workforce," said Sawyer. "Through both EY-operated initiatives and programs run by some of the world’s leading youth-focused organizations, EY people support hundreds of initiatives throughout the school year that provide students with the mentoring and guidance needed to build these crucial skills."

Baxter International Inc. published its first Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) index, a voluntary public disclosure that provides transparent and relevant corporate responsibility information to investors and other key stakeholders. This reporting milestone comes as Baxter is again named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), both DJSI World and DJSI North America. Baxter’s first index aligns with SASB’s Medical Equipment and Supplies Sustainability Accounting Standard and provides information on five topics: Affordability and Pricing, Product Safety, Ethical Marketing, Product Design and Lifecycle Management, and Supply Chain Management. Moving forward, Baxter expects to include a SASB index in the company’s annual Corporate Responsibility Report.
MetLife, Inc. announced that it has been recognized as a 2021 Military Friendly® Employer and a 2021 Military Friendly® Spouse Employer. National Grid is supporting commercial and industrial customers across the state with energy use planning aimed at reducing operating costs and reaching renewable energy targets. Among customers National Grid is working with through its Strategic Energy Management Partnership, or SEMP, is Beech-Nut Nutrition in Amsterdam and Greenpac Mill in Niagara Falls to lower operating costs and improve operational efficiencies. In upstate New York, over the past three years, National Grid has spent nearly $15 million on incentives for a variety of energy efficiency projects that have saved nearly 964,000 megawatt hours of electricity and 2.1 million dekatherms of natural gas.
Subaru of America, Inc.—in partnership with Rainbow PUSH Coalition (Rainbow PUSH)—announced a new scholarship program that will champion local students interested in pursuing a future in automotive technology. Named the Subaru University Scholarship for Automotive Excellence, the scholarship will equip six Camden students per year with financial support for an Associate Degree at Camden County College, as well as internship opportunities designed to kick start a career in the automotive industry. “We are committed to strengthening our communities by helping to make education as accessible as possible,” said Sheila Gallucci-Davis, vice president, general counsel, philanthropy and corporate responsibility at Subaru of America, Inc. “Providing these six scholarships is one way to honor that commitment in our Camden home and continue our effort to be more than a car company.”
