National Grid issued a statement following the New England Governors’ call for the modernization of the regional electricity system in order to achieve their states’ respective goals for clean, affordable, and reliable electricity. The statement welcomes the Governors’ push for more holistic, thoughtful energy planning as National Grid prepares the network for deep decarbonization on behalf of its customers and communities. It has set its sights on net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and laid out a plan to achieve it. The transformation to net zero won’t be easy, it will require significant collaboration with policymakers and industry partners every step of the way. "National Grid is installing technologies across its transmission network that are designed to more easily integrate clean sources of energy, while enhancing the resilience and reliability of the system," said the statement. "National Grid will continue to work with stakeholders on potential improvements to the competitive wholesale markets, with the goal of finding the most cost-effective and efficient path forward for supporting the clean energy resource investments required to achieve the decarbonization goals of the region."

It’s our mission to care for military families, a community that reflects our nation’s racial, social and economic diversity — and the complex issues that come with it.
