Paula Bommarito, associate vice president, enterprise brand and community strategy at CopperPoint Insurance Companies, shared the news that her company, employees, and board donated more than $443,000 to support community needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. “The heart of CopperPoint is serving the communities where we live and work,” said Bommarito. “Proud to be part of it!”
Melanie LeGrande, vice president of social responsibility for Major League Baseball, spoke with digital education platform EVERFI about the EduCup Challenge, one of many ways that the sports community has come together to support communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. "What's been so exciting to see is leagues and brands coming together. There is a great sense of community that leagues have supported," LeGrande stated in her interview. "It’s wonderful to have the ability to promote important messages together — whether it’s a celebratory message that honors people who are on the front lines or it’s a message that promotes educational outcomes for kids doing remote learning."
Maria Genova, responsibility and sustainability analyst at Nielsen, proudly shared her new Certificate in Corporate Citizenship Practice on LinkedIn, and was sure to thank her “amazing” managers, Andrea Bertels and Julia Wilson, who helped her along the way. “I am extremely lucky to be part of a team where my voice is heard and my talent developed,” said Genova. “Thanks to Julia and Andrea, I completed a certification at Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship and feel confident about my professional knowledge and experience.”

CBRE released its 2019 Corporate Responsibility Report, with special focus on COVID-19. CBRE's COVID-19 Relief Fund is supporting recovery efforts around the world with $15.3 million raised from employees and the company's contributions. "Our people have stepped up to help clients navigate COVID-19's challenges and also answered the call within their communities,” said Bob Sulentic, president and chief executive officer of CBRE. “In addition, we organized the largest fundraising campaign in CBRE's history, recognizing that our corporate response, like the challenge facing the world, needed to be unprecedented.”
Subaru of America, Inc., along with the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), announced that it has been awarded the 2020 Silver Halo Award in the “Best Sustainability Initiative” category for Engage the Good. Through extensive research over the course of five years, the automaker and the NPCA tested best landfill practices, piloting programs in three major national parks. Since the launch of the initiative, these parks have made significant strides by nearly doubling recycling and composting capabilities.
UPS is marking World Environment Day (June 5) by matching the carbon offsets of all packages shipped by its carbon neutral program for the entire month of June. "There is truly no better way to honor World Environment Day then to facilitate actions that will help the planet," said Suzanne Lindsay-Walker, chief sustainability officer (CSO) and vice president of environmental affairs at UPS.
