Spotlight on You
Many American companies honored Veterans Day this week by recognizing the nation’s heroes working and living in our local communities:
Joel Stamp, president of the General Mills Veterans Network, shared on a company podcast how and why the Network was formed, and the ways it continues to support veterans and transitioning military employees. “We started in 2012 because there was a recognition that veterans needed to talk through concerns and issues they had in the workplace,” he said. “So we continued to build on that through the Network and continue to address things that are valuable to veterans internally as well as externally in our communities.”
Bob Lieb, a veteran associate working for Lowe’s, reflects on his time in the service and thanks Lowe’s for recognizing military associates. “It means the world to me for the company to realize that military people are important,” he said in a company video.
Laura Holby, director of community engagement at Novant Health, recognized the many veterans who work for and with the company: "A special time to thank each and every veteran team member and veteran patient for their service." Holby also celebrated Novant Health's having been honored with the Liberty Award from the American Heroes for North Carolina, awarded to veteran-friendly organizations that have positively impacted their communities.
