Nicole “Nikki” Clifton has been appointed to lead the the UPS Foundation as president of social impact. Nikki will lead UPS’s global philanthropy, social impact and community engagement efforts as part of UPS’s new Corporate Affairs, Communications and Sustainability team. She will take over from Eduardo Martinez, who has had a distinguished 44-year career with UPS, most recently serving as UPS’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer and President of The UPS Foundation, leading the operations and management of UPS’s global philanthropic, employee engagement, and corporate relations programs for the past eight years.

Civic Alliance, a non-partisan group of businesses that work to increase the democratic participation rate in U.S. elections, recently released its list of companies that are actively encouraging nonpartisan voter participation. Member companies participating in this initiative include: AllianceBernstien, Atlanta Hawks, Dow Chemical, Major League Baseball, Target, ViacomCBS, and Wayfair.
Hypertherm has released its 2019 Corporate Social Responsibility Report, marking ten years of reporting in the areas of community engagement, environmental impact, and Associate well-being. The report incorporates United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for the first time, with Hypertherm connecting its work to eight of 17 global goals including goals for zero poverty, good health and well-being, quality education, and climate action. Also, for the first time, the 2019 report lists environmental results following Global Reporting Initiative standards, the most widely adopted global standard for sustainability reporting.
Kohler Co. announced the launch of Safe Water For All, an initiative to further address pressing issues around water access, quality, and conservation, and broaden public awareness around water issues. With its deep expertise in water and sanitation, Kohler is tapping into the innovative mindset of its 35,000+ associates, and working with partners to actively develop and provide solutions for the many complex issues that leave 2.1 billion people without access to safe water and 4.2 billion people without healthy sanitation. “The global COVID-19 pandemic has brought into sharp focus many of the troubling safe water issues we already know about but fail to adequately address. To bring positive, lasting change, businesses must focus on challenges they can solve most effectively, and for Kohler, this means water,” said Laura Kohler, SVP Human Resources, Stewardship and Sustainability at Kohler Co. “Safe Water For All is our commitment to address the water and sanitation crisis that continues to impact far too many people around the world.”
MetLife has received the HACR Award for Corporate Inclusion in recognition of its success in promoting Hispanic inclusion for the ninth year in a row. The HACR Award for Corporate Inclusion is given annually by the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR), based on the results of the HACR Corporate Inclusion Index. The index measures Hispanic inclusion in the areas of employment, procurement, philanthropy, and governance. “Fostering a culture of inclusion at MetLife is key to living our purpose and building a more confident future,” said Dr. Cindy Pace, MetLife’s global chief diversity and inclusion officer. “We are proud to be recognized for our commitment to a purpose-driven workplace that energizes our employees and helps the communities we serve.”
National Grid released its Net Zero by 2050 Plan, aimed at achieving net zero by 2050, including emissions from the sale of electricity and gas to customers. The plan builds on a recently announced responsible business charter which laid out the company’s commitments to the environment, employees, customers, and communities. “Our Net Zero by 2050 Plan outlines our approach to exploring a wide range of solutions until we can deliver the affordable, reliable clean energy future our customers want and deserve – no later than 2050,” said Badar Khan, President, National Grid US. “We believe our electric and gas networks have a vital role in helping achieve net zero emissions and our announcement today is the beginning of a transformative journey of our business.”
