Mitsubishi Electric and Finland’s VTT Establish Core Technology for Direct Ocean Capture
Mitsubishi Electric recently announced the development of core technology for a Direct Ocean Capture (DOC) system, in collaboration with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. This innovative approach captures CO₂ from seawater, promoting the removal of CO₂ from the atmosphere and contributing to climate change mitigation. Compared to conventional methods, this technology offers a highly efficient and scalable pathway for carbon removal. Mitsubishi Electric is advancing this initiative as part of its broader efforts to support carbon neutrality and drive sustainable innovation.
MGM Releases Their 2025 Impact Report
The numbers tell an important story. The people behind them tell an even better one. MGM Resorts' 2025 Impact Report shines a spotlight on the employees, partners and community organizations driving meaningful change. Through stories of service, opportunity and innovation, the report brings MGM Resorts’ Focused on What Matters platform to life, revealing the human impact behind the data. Alongside these stories, the report highlights measurable outcomes, including more than 98,000 employee volunteer hours in 2025, over $3.1 million awarded to local nonprofits through the MGM Resorts Foundation, 646 scholarships provided to children of employees since 2019 and more than 200 events hosted by Employee Network and Business Resource Groups. It also showcases the people helping advance sustainability and responsible business practices, from conservation efforts projected to save 7 million gallons of water annually in employee homes to a 30% year-over-year reduction in landfill waste. More than a report on performance, the 2025 Impact Report is a collection of stories about people coming together to strengthen communities, expand opportunity and create positive change.
Reducing Health Care Costs and Improving Chronic Disease Management
New data from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina’s (Blue Cross NC) Feed Your Health program shows that connecting people with nutritious food and personalized support from registered dietitians can meaningfully reduce health care costs and improve health outcomes for people managing Type 2 diabetes. More than one million North Carolinians are living with diabetes, making it one of the most pressing chronic health challenges facing the state.
Feed Your Health provides eligible members with six months of progressive food support at no cost —from prepared meals and meal kits to groceries and guided shopping—paired with coaching from registered dietitians, health coaches and wellness associates, followed by a full year of access to online self-service resources. Much of the food for the program is supplied through partnerships with North Carolina businesses

By pairing robust data with compelling storytelling, Northern Trust brings its impact to life—highlighting tangible outcomes such as nearly 670,000 nights of safe shelter and more than 11 million meals provided. Together, these results demonstrate how strategic philanthropy, grounded in clear metrics and strong nonprofit partnerships, can deliver sustained and scalable impact in communities around the world.
