It only takes a few hours a week to make a difference in someone's life. Becoming a Neighborhood Center volunteer allows you to give back while expanding your learning beyond the Boston College campus. Contact us to learn about events in the community, or to share your ideas for future programs and activities.
Interested in helping someone learn English?
The Boston College Neighborhood Center (BCNC) is seeking Boston College students to teach English to adult immigrants through weekly conversation classes. Experience teaching or tutoring English is beneficial but not necessary as orientation is provided. This is a great opportunity for language and education majors.

The BCNC Literacy Partnership Program (BLPP) is a children's literacy campaign whose mission is to promote literacy among Boston's elementary and middle school age students. Through the program, Boston College students (graduate and undergraduate) who receive work-study funds serve as tutors at local schools, including:
- St. Columbkille Partnership School
- The Steppingstone Foundation - College Success Academy
The average student works three to six hours per week with one or more children. All student volunteers receive orientation/training.
Please remember that you must have work study eligibility to participate in program. You can check your work study status on the Agora Portal. If you have questions, please email our BCNC Literacy Partnership Program Coordinator.

Our BCNC Volunteer Tutoring Program matches students from the Allston-Brighton community with Neighborhood Center volunteers for one-on-one tutoring with their school work.
