Luke (he/they) is an individual and group somatic psychotherapist and part-time faculty at Boston College and Smith College Schools of Social Work.
Luke began his clinical work in acute violence recovery, later transitioning to outpatient mental health at Fenway Health to center the needs of marginalized community members in Boston. In 2022, he transitioned to private practice, and has focused on fostering choice, agency, and a sense of connection within the queer community.
His clinical style is somatic and relational in nature, rooted in polyvagal and attachment theories, and influenced from training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, integrative somatic trauma therapies, and DBT skills. Luke has a particular love of group therapy and its capacity to help us practice the joy and pain of being in beloved community.
Folks who work with Luke have described his style of therapy, teaching, and existence as warm, funny, and irreverent. He has trained clinicians, researchers, and physicians across healthcare disciplines in trauma-informed, LBGT-knowledgable treatment, including as a faculty member with the Trans ECHO Program at the National LGBTQ+ Health Education Center. He has offered CEU programming through his private practice, including workshops and grand rounds for university health centers, hospital systems, mental health clinics, and national conferences.
As a part-time faculty member at Boston College and Smith College, Luke has focused on topics of whiteness and anti-oppressive practice, group therapy, and diagnostic assessment from various clinical orientations. In teaching, his goal is to create an environment where learners can explore, stumble, and grow, ultimately becoming more compassionate toward one another through creative processes of empathy and accountability.
