Gadamer Professorship

The Gadamer professorship serves to bring leading scholars into the department for extended periods during which students and faculty will have access to them and their work in the forms of seminars, lectures, and individual conversations. This practice began over twenty years ago, and has included visitors from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, and Italy including Rudolf Bernet (KU Leuven), Remi Brague (Paris-Sorbonne), Marcia Sa Cavalcante Schuback (Sodertorn University, Sweden), Francoise Dastur (Universite de Nice - Sophia Antipolis), Emmanuel Falque (Institut Catholique de Paris), Jean Greisch (Institut Catholique de Paris), Axel Honneth (Goethe-Universitaet Frankfurt), Jean-Luc Marion (Paris-Sorbonne), Paul Moyaert (KU Leuven), and Alessandro Ferrara (University of Rome Tor Vergata). 

During the academic year 2026-2027, Günter Zöller (Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Ludwig Maximilian University Munich) will visit for approximately ten days in the Fall and Emmanuel Alloa (Univ. de Fribourg) will visit for approximately ten days in the Spring.
