Heading off the Homelessness Crisis
Prior to the pandemic, an estimated 150 million people, or approximately 2% of the world’s population, were homeless, and as many as 1.6 billion lacked adequate housing. While the pandemic has disrupted information-gathering in the U.S. this past year, some experts predict the pandemic will cause chronic homelessness to climb by nearly 50% nationwide.
