Spotlight on You

FedEx Chief Sustainability Officer Mitch Jackson and General Motors Chief Sustainability Officer Kristen Siemen were featured in Fortune Magazine for their comments at the recent Global Sustainability Forum. Siemen stressed the importance of government interventions to build the infrastructure needed for electric cars to be usable on the road. Jackson was quoted on the importance of collaboration in the field: “I’ve long said that sustainability is a team sport, and if we’re going to transform the world economy with respect to a net zero or zero emissions world, we’re going to have to be working together to do that.”

Kathleen M. Bochman joined Fidelity Investments as managing director of ESG research. In her new role, Bochman will ensure consistency and alignment with Fidelity's overall corporate sustainability strategy and program. Bochman was vice president and director of ESG at Loomis Sayles.

The Morgan Stanley Alliance for Children's Mental Health Innovation Awards initiative aims to identify and fund mental healthcare solutions for children and young adults across the United States. Last week, Morgan Stanley announced five winners of the inaugural awards, who were selected after a robust review of over 850 applications by mental health and grant-making experts from the Alliance for Children’s Mental Health. They address a diverse set of communities, geographies, and needs through their transformative and culturally responsive models. The winning nonprofits will present their inventive solutions at a virtual showcase on November 11. Register to attend the Innovation Awards Showcase here.

Salesforce has announced that it is a net zero company across its full value chain and has achieved 100% renewable energy for its operations. Salesforce developed emissions reductions strategies across Scope 1, 2 and 3 in four key categories—work from anywhere, infrastructure, business travel, and supply chain. The company is also unveiling Sustainability Cloud 2.0 to accelerate customers’ path to Net Zero, empowering organizations to track and reduce their carbon emissions and become a sustainable business.

Target has announced that the company is investing $100 million through 2025 to help fuel economic prosperity in Black communities across the country. Target plans to achieve this it by supporting local, Black-led organizations to ensure that resources are specifically designed for the communities they serve. This $100 million investment is yet another example of Target’s Racial Equity Action and Change strategy in action, building on its initial $10 million commitment after the murder of George Floyd as well as new commitments in 2021, including a plan to spend $2 billion with Black-owned businesses by 2025.
