I could say so much about how great Woods College is. Once you are in, you are a part of what I call the "family" because that's exactly what it feels like. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself and my family, and I am proud to call myself an Eagle Alum!

Hometown: Dorchester, MA

Program: Corporate Systems

What has been your favorite class/professor? It's hard to pick just one, as my two favorites were Research Techniques with Professor Payne and Practical Logic with Professor Connors. Both of these classes proved to be extremely beneficial throughout my time at Boston College. Professor Payne's class prepared me to understand the research process, demonstrated by way of examination through ethical implications. His class was fun and interactive, and taught me the skills necessary to implement in all of my classes. He was also one of the more interesting professors that I had while attending Woods.

Professor Connors' Practical Logic class was outstanding. I love a challenge and his class definitely presented that. Although his class was challenging, it helped prep me for writing future papers and refuting false statements, as well as also being able to apply what I learned to my regular due-diligence. Both these classes gave me the tools necessary to be successful, not only in class but also in the work force.

Why Woods? Woods worked for me because it gave me the opportunity to follow my dream as an Entrepreneur. Having the ability to finish my undergraduate degree, whilst working on a startup proved to be extremely beneficial– and affordable. I would go to class at night and learn new skills to implement the next day with my team. The professors are engaged, knowledgeable, and excited about what they do, which makes going to class at night that much more enjoyable. Not to mention the community at Woods is so tight knit. I never felt alone or that I couldn't speak to my professors. Woods provided me the opportunity of obtaining a quality education at a top end institution at my own pace. The advisors are helpful and the professors are more than accommodating when you have issues that may arise. Woods felt like a home away from home and I know that sentiment is shared between alumni and current students alike.

Completing my bachelor degree at the Woods College will allow me to attain additional certifications to move forward in my current role, and has also opened other doors in the community because I have had the chance to meet and network with other Boston College alumni who are now business leaders in Boston.

Hometown: Originally from Charlotte, NC. Now living in Natick, MA.

Major: Communications

Favorite class or professor? My favorite class so far was Ethics with Professor Eric Severson. The class was very timely as we all worked through a pandemic and many other social justice issues together. The class encouraged us to reach out beyond our comfort zones and in the process, we grew very close as a group.

Why does the Woods College work for you? The Woods College works so well for me because the format is truly built for working students. Classes are at night, and the professors are so flexible and caring.

I was able to apply what I learned in class to my professional work, and vice versa, which allowed me to gain a deeper experience that wouldn’t have been possible if I was solely working or attending school full time.

Hometown: Denville, New Jersey

Favorite class or professor? Health Analytics taught by Professor Baker Hearld was my favorite class. I had no prior experience in analytics, but it is such a powerful tool to help organizations make data-driven decisions that provide the highest quality processes and strategies. Analytics helps one identify the strengths and weaknesses to better streamline what is working and eliminate what isn’t. To be frank, I was dreading this class, but it ended up being my favorite! It also helped me successfully expand my career to be focused more on analytics. If it weren’t for this course at Boston College, I wouldn’t have discovered one of my true passions.

Why does the Woods College work for you? Woods College has worked for me because of the flexibility. I was working full-time while being a part-time Master's student at Boston College. The versatility of being able to work anywhere and anytime really helped me juggle all my responsibilities. Even with everything shifting to be virtual, I made meaningful connections with my professors and peers through discussion posts and optional office hours that allowed in-depth conversations. Furthermore, the Boston College community offers so many extra activities ranging outside of classes that you don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything by not being on campus. Additionally, the prompt assistance from the professors and faculty quickly diverts you from being lost to getting the exact answer you needed.

My program has enabled me to become more informed and confident when having conversations around American politics. I now have a clear background of the country's foundation and have gained skills in speaking before audiences. My time at Woods has made me understand the adrenaline this country runs on and prepared me for better paying jobs ahead.

Why Woods College? Woods college classes are designed in a manner that caters across all generations and age groups creating a diverse environment but also works for me because the classes are designed in a way that caters for those who work giving them the opportunity to archive goals of their dreams towards professional careers.

What has been your favorite class or professor? My favorite class was the American History: The Defining Moments and Anglo-American History by Prof. Michael Paul. His such a great professor his lectures were so alive that i could feel it resounding in my head even when I had left the class. Very in-depth and it made me visualize what was going on around that period of events. His articulate , listens, understanding and offers great guidance.

Woods has prepared me not only for my career plans in the field of psychology, but as a lifelong learner as well. The supportive environment fostered by the close community has allowed me to grow my skills in advocacy and communication, and improve my work ethic and confidence. In addition to the faculty who are always willing to discuss career plans, the academic support staff is always open to meet and help plan for the future. Woods has been such an important place for me given my unconventional experience in post-secondary education, and I truly appreciate the unique opportunities it has offered me.

Hometown: Boston, MA

Major: Psychology

Favorite class or professor? Counseling Theories and Interventions with Dr. Blattner. It's been my first opportunity to explore the theoretical frameworks and concepts of counseling and their practical applications. Dr. Blattner's passion for teaching, her professional experience, and her personal insights make class not only informative but engaging. She also cultivates an atmosphere of inclusivity and mutual respect that leaves every student feeling appreciated and comfortable sharing their thoughts and opinions, while simultaneously encouraging us to challenge ourselves as learners. Her class has left me excited for my future in the field of psychology and I encourage anyone who has the chance to take a class with her.

Why does the Woods College work for you? I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to attend the Woods College. The night schedule and availability of online classes have allowed me to work towards my goal of obtaining my BA while working full time. The professors are understanding and willing to work with us to ensure we get the most out of our education while balancing it with our careers, families, and other responsibilities. I've never felt more supported and encouraged than I do at Woods.
