Three-Step Registration Process

EagleApps Course Information and Scheduling
Step One: Course Search
The course search module is similar to the existing Course Information and Schedule (CI&S) application, but with more robust functionality. Users can search on applicable terms and view corresponding courses in order to research offerings in preparation for building plans and registering.
The public view of CI&S will remain available to those without access to the Agora Portal. Links to the new EagleApps version of CI&S and the public version of CI&S will be available on the Student Services’ Course Information & Schedule web page.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with this functionality by watching the online tutorials and/or reviewing the “how-to guide” below.

EagleApps Course Planning & Registration
Step Two: Course Planning
Once planning opens, you will be able to access the new Course Planning module within EagleApps via a link titled “EagleApps Planning & Registration” that will only be accessible in the Student Portal. Once this functionality opens you will have the ability to begin building your plan(s).
This module enables you to create up to two different academic plans for the semester, in order of priority, with up to ten courses in each plan (maximum of five for the summer). One plan may be sufficient, but there is an option to build two, if desired. When the plan(s) are complete, you will be able to run an automated check to ensure that you have the correct corequisites, permissions, and other requirements to register successfully for the selected courses if they are open at your registration time. Adding courses to a plan does not reserve a seat for you in that course. Students will be able to monitor seats open in their desired courses as their registration time approaches and make necessary adjustments. We are hopeful that this ability to plan will lead to a more efficient registration process on the day of your designated time slot.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with this functionality by watching the online tutorial and/or reviewing the “how-to guide” below.
EagleApps Course Planning & Registration
Step Three: Registration
Once the Registration period opens, you will be able to access your existing plan(s) via the same application “EagleApps Planning & Registration,” which will only be accessible in the Agora Portal. Now you will have the ability to submit your plan at the time registration is open to you. You will be successfully registered for courses that are open at your registration time and that you have all the necessary permissions needed to be enrolled. You will use this registration module to add and drop as well until the designated end of that period for the active semester.

Q: Can I have one or more courses in several plans at the same time?
A: Yes, students may have two plans that with up to 10 courses in each plan (5 for summer). Plans are separate from one another.
Q: Does having a plan (or two) guarantee me a seat/spot in the class?
A: No; it is for planning purposes only.
Q: Do we have to rearrange the courses in our plan in order of preference?
A: Future EagleApps functionality will register students for the courses in the order in which they have them. For example, if a student gets is able to register for their first five courses on their list, it will ignore the sixth. For now, students may put classes in their plans, but they will have to choose which sections to submit for registration after they verify their plan.
Q: I noticed in the Creating a Plan video tutorial that EagleApps allowed the user to sign up for two classes at the same time. I thought that wasn't possible?
A: That's correct; students will not be able to sign up for two classes at the same time. This issue has since been resolved and a new video tutorial will be reissued.
Q: How do I share my plan with my advisor?
A: You may share your plan with your advisor by selecting "Print to PDF" to email a PDF copy or print it out.
Q: Can I print the calendar view?
A: Not at this time. This is a scheduled future enhancement.
Q: How do I know when I am able to register?
A: All students may view the University Registration Calendar to determine the day of their registration. Undergraduate students may also view their assigned appointment time in the blue context header in the EagleApps Planning & Registration module.
Q: What happens if I miss my registration window?
A: Students who miss their registration window can still register; students do not lose access or the opportunity to register.
Q: How can I see the courses I am registered in for summer?
A: In Student Planning & Registration students should be sure that they are in tabular view, not calendar view. Online asynchronous courses are not visible in calendar view.
Q: Is there a course waitlist?
A: No, that is a future enhancement in EagleApps. In the meantime, students should contact the Academic Department administering the course as certain departments and instructors may maintain waitlists.
Q: How will I be notified if I am approved or denied permission to take a course, assuming I sign out of EagleApps?
A: Students will not be notified; they need to look for updates in EagleApps.
Q: What is the difference between a pass/fail and letter grade?
A: Learn more about this and other undergraduate academic policies in the online University Catalog.
Q: Will EagleApps allow me to select a certain amount of pass/fail courses?
A: If a course is not set up to allow pass/fail, you will not be able to change your option. EagleApps will only allow undergraduate students to take pass/fail classes in accordance with BC’s policies.
Q: I need to register for a restricted (major/minor) course and I am not a declared major/minor. How do I do this?
A: Students in this situation should contact the department that administers the course to request to be added to the major/minor or to be overriden into the restricted course.
Q: I want to meet and talk with my Academic Advisor. What do I do?
A: Students are always urged to meet and talk with their Academic Advisor. To do so, students must first log into their Agora Portal to determine who their advisor is. Students should then contact their advisor for an appointment.
Q: I have a hold on my account. How do I resolve this so that I can register?
A: Students should contact the department or office in which they have the hold (e.g., Student Services, University Health Services, Office of Student Conduct, and/or their Associate Deans' office).
Q: I am used to reviewing my Degree Audit with my Advisor. What will I do in EagleApps?
A: Students will continue to use their UIS Degree Audit for this registration cycle only. BC will be introducing a new Degree Audit over the summer. Students will receive further instructions at a later date.
Q: Do graduate students have assigned registration times?
A: Graduate students register by school. Visit the University Registration Calendar or the Registrar's Course Registration web page for details.
Q: I am trying to register for a summer course. What is the process for this?
A: See the training material (video tutorials and Student Planning and Registration Guide) on this site.
Q: I am currently an undergraduate student, but I am graduating with my undergraduate degree in May and I will be starting my graduate program in the fall. How will I register for my graduate courses in the fall?
A: Students will be active in their new program in EagleApps and ought to be able to register when their grad program opens for registration. For questions, contact the Assistant Registrar for your school or college.
Q: I am an undergraduate student and the course I am trying to register for has a Discussion section. What has changed about Discussion sections?
A: In EagleApps, students register for a Discussion section at the same time they register for the lecture portion of their course.
Q: I am an undergraduate student and the course I am trying to register for has a Lab. What has changed about Lab courses?
A: If the lab is 0 credits it is now bundled with the lecture portion of the course—students will be guided to choose both portions of the course at the time of registration. If the lab carries credit it will be listed as a required corequisite for the course.
Q: I am an undergraduate student and the course that I am trying to register for has a corequisite. Is there anything special that I need to do?
A: Students must register for both the course and the corequisite together. A student's registration will not be accepted if the appropriate corequisite has not been selected.
Q: Does the swap feature apply only to courses with different sections or can I swap between two completely unrelated courses?
A: Students can swap whichever courses they want, as long as the course they are adding to their schedule has seats available and the student has met the stated prerequisites.
Q: What do the Mon., Tues., Wed., etc., and time of day filters do, if they end up showing all of the times and days anyway?
A: These filters show students any courses that meet the entered criteria. If a student selected Tuesday and ECON3381 had no sections available on Tuesday, the course would not be returned in the list. However, if CHEM1109 had a Discussion that met on Tues., CHEM1109 would be returned on the list. In this case, when a student can see the section listing, all sections are shown since a student must also take the Lecture component, which may not meet on Tuesday—all available sections of that course will be shown; not just the ones the student chose in their search.
Q: I need to request an override. How do I do this?
A: Students should add the course in question to their plan and verify the plan. If the required permissions can be handled through workflow the student can place the request in the Planning & Registration screen. If there is no workflow (for a closed course, for example) the process is the same as it was previously, in that the student should reach out to the department directly.
Q: I want to overload or take more than 15 credits next semester. What do I do?
A: Students cannot sign up for a sixth 3-credit course until the first day of class. Only students with a 3.0 GPA overall or greater in the most recent semester will be able to overload. Consult with the Office of Student Services or your Associate Deans' office for assistance.
Q: Can I still use planning before I am cleared to register by my academic advisor?
A: Yes, you can plan without clearance.
Q: Once I am cleared by my academic advisor, can I register at any time?
A: Once you are cleared, you can register any time from your appointment time onward.
Q: I need to change my declared major or minor. What do I do?
A: Students should follow the standard existing procedure of seeking out the department of the major or minor they are interested in.
Q: I noticed something incorrect on my Academic Record. Whom do I contact?
A: Students should contact the Assistant Registrar for their school to report the issue. The Assistant Registrar will submit a ticket on the student's behalf if the issue is a result of a data conversion problem.
