New Research Release: Profile of the Practice

The Profile of the Practice examines how corporate citizenship is being managed behind the scenes in today’s companies. Building upon the 2010 edition, this report contains the latest data on the corporate citizenship strategies, operational structures, and management and leadership tactics. The information captured in this study often cannot be found on a corporate website or even a corporate citizenship report. The survey took a broad look at corporate citizenship, defined as how a company takes responsibility and is accountable for managing its social and environmental impacts across the business.
Karen Hoff, Senior Research Analyst, Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship
Karen focuses on the development, execution and delivery of the Center’s signature research. She also handles member benchmarking services, and provides support on member requests for corporate citizenship information. Prior to joining the Center, Karen worked in market research including three years at a global research organization. She has extensive experience in survey analysis, and received her PhD from the Missouri School of Journalism.
Jenny Levy, Director of CSR, Hypertherm
Jenny is the Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Hypertherm, Inc. in Hanover, New Hampshire. Hypertherm, an associate owned company with 1,300 associates worldwide, designs and manufactures the world’s most advanced metal cutting systems for use in a variety of industries such as shipbuilding, heavy equipment, and manufacturing. CSR at Hypertherm includes community service and engagement, corporate philanthropic giving through their HOPE Foundation, and environmental stewardship. In 2012, 86% of US-based Hypertherm associates volunteered time in the local community, serving over 14,500 hours. A group of twelve associates on the Philanthropy Team make all corporate grant award decisions for the HOPE Foundation. Hypertherm has also developed a set of environmental sustainability strategic goals for the year 2020, including becoming a zero landfill waste organization, reducing their carbon impacts by 50%, and developing products that are 20% more energy efficient.
Michelle Crozier Yates, Director Corporate Responsibility, Adobe and Executive Director of the Adobe Foundation, Adobe Systems Incorporated
As Adobe’s Director of Corporate Responsibility (CR) and Executive Director of the Adobe Foundation, Michelle Crozier Yates is responsible for global CR program strategy, management, and reporting. She manages a team focused on employee involvement initiatives, sustainability strategies, global giving programs, and CR-related product innovations. This includes responsibility for Adobe Youth Voices, the Adobe Foundation’s global initiative to increase creativity in young people and help them to become the problem solvers, critical thinkers, and leaders of tomorrow.
